i always wanted to throw a goth prom and subject my coworkers to the spooky side of life and in 2019 i was able to make that happen with holiday spirits, a haunted mansion themed holiday party that filled portland’s melody ballroom full of haunts and surprises for one night of magick.
we started with an invite that required a little bit of astronomy to decipher the party date.
our party packet featured all the major arcana tarot cards (illustrated by the talented dave hagen), crystals to wear instead of boring wrist bands and custom designed coins for later use to be revealed at the party.
all good pagan festivals start with sacrificial meat on a spit (catering by han oak).
my dream of making a zoltar fortunte teller was fulfilled not once but twice with custom, hand-sculpted zoltar machines of dan wieden and david kennedy that move, speak and produce fortunes featuring quotes from both founders.
to bring my haunted mansion holiday party vision to life, we took over three levels of the melody ballroom.
